Astroworld Takes Over Houston

Mayor Sylvester Turner recognized Travis Scott, a native Houstonian from Missouri City, as an ambassador for the arts, education, and youth initiatives.

“It’s lit,” said Turner at Astroworld Day.

His album, Astroworld, being number one on the charts, was inspired by Astroworld, the Six Flags theme park that closed in 2005.

“I was inspired by AstroWorld,” said Scott. “In 2005 when they took it away it took a piece of my heart away and I had nowhere to go."

Scott spoke about wanting to bring back a feeling of unity and fun in the city.

Scott shared a message of creating opportunities and art to the students of Hastings High School, Texas Southern University, and Jack and Jill of America Inc., on how they are the future.

“I want to inspire children and people, to give them a motion and energy to change the world,” said Scott.

Scott expresses gratitude towards his fans for coming out and supporting him. With holidays around the corner Scott expressed importance of family as he planned on spending his Thanksgiving holiday with his family in Missouri City.

The AstroWorld weekend left people wishing they were there.
