With Hot Girl Summer still ringing in our ears it's hard to turn up without having a female from the south on your playlist. This year Houston artist, Megan Thee Stallion, has successfully played a big ole freakin part in the movement of other female rappers from Houston. Here is our list of women from Houston that's taking that opportunity very serious. (We decided to you letters and let you be the judge of everything else.)

MEGAN THE STALLION

A student at Texas Southern University, Megan Thee Stallion, is know on the Billboards and as the Houston Hottie . Megan grew up in a neighborhood called Dead End, part of the larger South Park area of Houston’s south-side — home of the legendary Screwed Up Click. Under the leadership of the late DJ Screw, they introduced the world to the smooth, slowed down sound of Houston rap.

MAZII MONET

According the her website, Mazii Mone't, originally known as her birth name "Victoria Mone't" was born in Dallas January 1st, 1991 and raised in the Chicago area. She moved to Houston, Texas at 15 years old. Mazii has a new song out now entitled, "Marshmello" available on all music platforms.

KEN THE MAN

Ken The Man has a spunky way getting her point across that can be heard in her music. In her interview with Houston's 97.9 The Box she states, “I been rapping for like seven years. You know, we from Houston so we be freestyling randomly. And them first freestyles sucked but they were kind of “good” sucked, you know? I wrote my first song and it kind of sucked. I don’t know what made me go and say, “Aight let me write it” but I let my friends at school hear it and they were like, “Oh this kinda cool.” My freestyle I ever dropped … like 5-6 years ago got 100 plays in like 30 minutes and … I got good later on!"

LEBRA JOLIE

Houston's own Lebra Jolie from Fifth Ward transitioned from poetry to rap a few years ago. She has been featured on many blogs including a recent one from, 97.9 The Box, that including her friend Ken The Man. She recently was apart of the “Down South” 2019 remix with Mista Madd, KenTheMan, and OMB Bloodbath. She is the with the birthday of June 26th, and a mother to a beautiful little girl.

Very creative female rapper, SAJ, will amaze you on IG with her bold fashion statements. With her chill vibes her music can be included in any smokers playlist. She is very new to the Houston music scene but when we saw her at the Hip Hip Showcase with Ken The Man. She commanded the stage like she had been performing for years.

YOUNG LYRIC

Young Lyric is a 19 year-old International Hip Hop Princess, Internet Sensation, and Breakout Star of Lifetime TV's new hit show "The Rap Game" produced by Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah!! She turned down a deal to work with Jermaine Dupri while managing to maintain success as an independent artist. She has ties to the Rap-A-Lot camp and recently did a song with Falcon The God. Her latest single, Get It How You Live, now has a visual, which was released in July.

THAT GIRL LAY LAY

Even at 12-years old, That Girl Lay Lay is smart, funny, and all about her business. Lay Lay is one of the youngest song writers out right now. Her success has landed her in television commercials and day time TV shows including; The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

OMB BLOODBATH

Brought up in Houston’s Third Ward, OMB Bloodbath is nothing less than a real ghetto superstar. Her name stems from Malibu’s Most Wanted’s character Bloodbath. She has been approached by some of the industries major players, including Meek Mill. Her most recent song is ”Sour Cream,” and the video was released last month.

SURREALL

Known as The 1st Lady of Swisha House, Surreall, is a rapper and CEO of Loud Bass Entertainment. She was recently nominated for the Southern Entertainment Awards.Her new project entitled, "Bag Talk" released this year and features Houston's legendary rapper Zro.

DRIZZY

Known mostly for her freestyles, Drizzy’s raps can be felt with passion. She is the type of rapper that can go for rounds in a rap cypher. She is currently featured on a project with Stay Down Productions. Feel free check out her skills in the video posted below.

BOSS LADY JAYE

Lyrical rapper, Boss Lady Jaye, can be found turning up the crowd every Friday at D-Bar in Houston. As CEO of I Turn Heads Promotions, she has proved fully capable of handling the Houston night life. Not only is this boss a business woman but also a great mother to her 6th grade son.

For the record this woman is far from shy. Gemini Shy is a Houston artist making her way on this list of female rappers because of her hard work and boldness. Her determination has landed her recognition on IG from some key players in the industry; including an A&R from Rap-A-Lot Records.

MILY BUCKS

Milli Bucks is not originally from Houston, but we can easily include her on this list because of her love for the city. This hard-core rapper from Jacksonville, Florida, has been in Houston long enough that many people (including us) assumed she was from here. Buck’s only been rapping for a yshort time and she’s already gained a huge fan base. Her freestyle with Yung Ro on YouTube has received more than 14,000 views.
